"Using passive voice must be avoided."
Sorry, I meant to say, "Please stop using the passive voice when you blog."
It's not fun to read and doesn't make you sound smart - I'm thinking annoying here but who's keeping track. But seriously, think about it. If a person wrote a book using only the passive voice, no one would buy this book. No one would read this book. In fact, no one would publish this book. One should follow the same rules when blogging as one would use when writing say a term paper or creative writing exercise. It is just more fun and interesting to read active sentences.
Use an active sentence with a good subject (like the person doing the action) and a verb (the action).
Such as:
Encore came running up the stairs.
NOT
Up the stairs came Encore running.
Thank you. Thus concludes Blenglish 101 (Like Spanglish but with blogs - Thank you for this new word, Jenna) for this evening.
Note... I'm sure that I have at times fallen prey to the passive voice, so I judge myself here as well. But it is time we made a pact to write better blogs... (Too Jerry McGuire there?)

Oh man. This was one of the worst lessons in English. Quite frankly, I don't know that I would know if I was or was not writing passively. I'm just going to assume/hope cross my fingers that I learned it and try really hard not to write crap. K?
